Technical Information
Typhoon FLA 7000 is a fast and versatile laser scanner for phosphorimaging and fluorescence imaging.
Typhoon FLA 7000 is a nonconfocal variable mode laser scanner offering high speed and resolution for precise quantitation of proteins, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules. Using predefined methods, the system can image a sample measuring 24 x 40 cm in 2.5 minutes, offering high throughput for the multiuser lab environment. The system provides several imaging modes: fluorescence and chemifluorescence, filmless autoradiography, and digitization of stained samples (e.g. Coomassie™ blue and silver stain). Applications include the detection of proteins stained with Deep Purple™, SYPRO™ Ruby or SYPRO Red, chemifluorescent Western blot imaging with ECL™ Plus, and DNA imaging by SYBR™ Green or Cy™5.
The system provides a linear signal response over five orders of magnitude. This, together with digitization of the images with up to 16-bit resolution, provides a suitable basis for the precise quantitation of proteins, DNA, and other suitably labeled molecules in complex samples.
The system employs cost-effective and space-saving diode lasers. Four computer-controlled filters are included. Filters are easily installed by the user without tools for attaining optimal imaging conditions.
Two stages for fluorescence and phosphorimaging are included. Supported formats include agarose and polyacrylamide gels, membranes, and radioisotope-labeled samples. The optional Multi Stage enables imaging of polyacrylamide gels with glass plates. The TP plug-in accompanies the Multi Stage and provides a means to image up to three microplates. All stages are easily removed from the system for cleaning.
