ÄKTA avant chromatography system is available in two versions. ÄKTA avant 25 is optimized for media screening and method optimization using small columns. ÄKTA avant 150 is designed for scaling up to larger columns, as well as fine-tuning and robustness testing of the optimized process.

Integrated Design of Experiments (DoE)
UNICORN™ 6 has an integrated DoE functionality, a powerful tool that allows the maximum amount of information to be obtained from a minimum number of experiments. This saves time and money and because DoE is seamlessly integrated in UNICORN, methods are automatically generated from DoE schemes, an important step towards automating process development.
BufferPro
Eliminate time-consuming tasks such as manual buffer preparation and buffer titration for experiments requiring pH changes. Automated, on-line buffer preparation with BufferPro allows for quick and easy pH scouting and preparation of single buffers. BufferPro features true buffer mixing with conjugated acid/base, and automatically compensates for the salt concentration in a gradient to achieve a more stable pH.
Method Editor
Method Editor incorporates an approach to method programming that is simple, highly intuitive, and yet flexible enough to be used by both beginners and experienced users. Method Editor contains predefined methods for different chromatography techniques and maintenance procedures. There is also a library of predefined phases, which can easily be dragged-and-dropped to create or edit your own methods.
One of the most important things in biopharmaceutical process development is safety: operational safety and process safety. But the faster you go, the more exposed to risk you are. So we developed an instrument that is as safe as it is fast.
Built-in fraction collector
The integrated fraction collector has a cooling functionality to prevent sample overheating and protect purified samples. A variety of cassettes are available, and up to six cassettes can be loaded into the fraction collector in any combination that fits the user's needs. Cassettes are automatically detected by a sensor and the tube configuration is validated.
Column Logbook and UniTag scanning
To increase operational security, the Column Logbook keeps track of important column data for complete traceability. Individual columns, labeled with UniTag barcode labels, are identified using a barcode scanner so that column and run data are recorded during each run. This allows, for instance, the user to be notified when it is time for column maintenance.
Differential pressure measurements
This feature allows the pressure difference over the packed media bed (Δp) to be continuously monitored, ensuring that your column and sample are protected from overpressure. These measurements are performed in a manner that corresponds to instruments utilized in large-scale manufacturing processes.
