These kits demand less hands-on time compared to traditional isolation methods, with one simple automated protocol for different types of sources.

Despite the efficiency of DNA extraction methods, there is often a need for more material for analysis. Isothermal Rolling Circle Amplification (RCA) uses bacteriophage Phi29 DNA polymerase to generate large amounts of DNA from small starting amounts of circular templates (e.g., plasmids, phage, and BACs).
RCA has also led to the development of methods for whole genome amplification (WGA) of samples where the amount of starting material is limiting such as samples from individuals, and specific cell types or tissues. RCA generates high quality DNA for array comparative genomic hybridization (CGH), high-throughput genotyping or sequencing, DNA archiving, PCR, forensic analysis, hybridization, and cloning.
