GenePhor Electrophoresis System enables high-resolution separation of DNA fragments. The system includes GenePhor Electrophoresis Unit, EPS 1001 Power Supply, and Processor Plus, an automated gel staining and blot processing unit enabling automated detection by sensitive silver stain using PlusOne DNA Silver Staining Kit. A wide selection of application-specific precast GeneGel polyacrylamide gels and buffers complement this compact, temperature controlled, flatbed electrophoresis unit that requires no running buffer.
Manual gel-based DNA fragment analysis can be used to determine disease-causing genetic aberrations such as microsatellite instability (MSI), trisomy or aneuploidy, and loss of heterozygosity. Manual fragment analysis is performed using methods such as random amplification of polymorphic DNA (RAPD) or differential display reverse transcription (DDRT). The analysis may further involve an investigation of variable number of tandem repeats (VNTR) and single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP).
