Xcellerex XDR 2000 with automation

Xcellerex XDR single-use, stirred-tank bioreactors are designed for growth, in both cell culture and in microbial fermentation processes. These well-characterized systems deliver a performance comparable with that of conventional stainless steel, stirred-tank bioreactors of equivalent size—from process development to manufacturing scale. All this is achieved without the complexity or cost of steam-in-place (SIP) and clean-in-place (CIP) operations. XDR bioreactors offer smooth transfer from process development to manufacturing scale.

Through its design, XDR bioreactors provide a simple and economic option for improved scale-up efficiency. XDR bioreactor systems are available in six different volumes, from 10 L to 2000 L, and employ robust automation for advanced process control, reproducible performance, and comprehensive data management. Xcellerex XDM Quad Single-Use Mixing Systems are designed for convenient and efficient mixing of buffer, media, product, and other process fluids. The single-use system eliminates the hassle of time-consuming and costly steam-in-place (SIP), clean-in-place (CIP), and cleaning validation. The result is more efficient processing and rapid batch-to-batch turnover time.

The XDM Quad Mixing System is available in single-wall stainless steel, jacketed stainless steel (for heating and cooling applications), or polypropylene, in five standard sizes (50 L, 100 L, 200 L, 500 L, and 1000 L). The system is comprised of an integrated rigid container, complete with an agitation system and controls that use an irradiated USP Class VI single-use LDPE fluid contact layer bag. XDM Quad Mixing System delivers flexibility and accommodates a wide array of applications by offering two standard bag types that include different tubing lines and connections, and sampling and sensing capabilities.

Xcellerex XDUO Quad Intelligent Single-Use Mixing System features powerful onboard automation capabilities, including in-line sensing and process control, combined with robust mixing and ease of use. The system is suitable for commercial and clinical production of biotherapeutics, vaccines, and other biologics.

The XDUO Quad Mixing System is available in five standard sizes (50L, 100 L, 200 L, 500 L, and 1000 L). The system supports upstream and downstream applications for automated mixing of buffer, media, product and intermediates, as well as other process fluids. The XDUO Quad Mixing System offers a range of in-process monitoring and control capabilities that allows precise configuration for your application needs.

GE Healthcare’s Xcellerex bioreactors and mixing systems feature the XDA disposable, single-use product contact assembly. These units include all gas filters, agitation system components, sparge components, probes, ports, pressure sensors, sampling ports, and gas and liquid transfer tubes. The magnetically coupled, internally mounted agitator requires no rotating seals or shaft penetrations through the disposable assembly. Installation and connections take just minutes.

The materials used in XDA disposable assemblies are regularly used in biopharmaceutical processing applications. All plastic fluid contact materials are tested for biocompatibility in accordance with ISO 10993, USP <87> and USP <88> Class VI for plastics. All non-plastic parts are made of 316L stainless steel, the biopharmaceutical industry standard, and verified for chemical composition.
